Coach Meyer started his coaching career in 1984 at El Camino High School. He has been coaching high school football for past 25 years in the North County. He spent 19 years at El Camino High School in Oceanside along side his mentor and father Herb Meyer, who was the winningest high school coach in the state of California. When his father retired in 2003, Coach Meyer moved to Rancho Buena Vista High School to help create a winning tradition. He was given the opportunity to implement his philosophy and turned that program around, which lead them to the playoffs.

After the spring of 2007 Coach Meyer became the Offensive Coordinator at Army and Navy Academy in Carlsbad. He immediately implemented his philosophy and turned the Warrior program around. In the past three years, Coach Meyer has taken the Warriors to the playoffs and has increased their winning percentage to over 70%, up from the previous three years of 31%. In 2008 the Warriors won the league championship for the first time in seventeen years and went to the semi-finals.
